Casa Mérida

Adaptive design of a narrow residential site located in the historic center of Mérida, exploring the relationship between contemporary architecture and Mayan vernacular principles. Conceived around an 80-meter linear perspective crossing the entire plot, the project reinterprets the traditional “Sacbé” — the white stone paths of ancient Maya civilization — as both spatial strategy and cultural reference. In response to Mérida’s extreme climate and dependence on air conditioning, the house integrates passive cooling concepts through natural airflow, elongated circulation, shaded transitions, and material simplicity, creating a residence deeply connected to the identity, climate, and architectural memory of Yucatán
